Brief description
Akshit Goyal: "I will discuss a way of thinking about microbes competing for nutrients akin to people in a competitive marriage market. This analogy can be made more exact if microbes use resources one at a time — a phenomenon called diauxie that is commonly observed. When many such diauxic species with distinct resource utilization strategies compete, I will show how game theory helps explain how microbial communities can exist in multiple stable states."
The session will be organized by Martina dal Bello.
