univie: summer school Economic Principles in Cell Biology 2025

Our fourth summer school Economic Principles in Cell Biology took place in the Main Building of the University of Vienna from July 23 to July 26, 2025. Like our 2022, 2023, and 2024 summer schools in Paris, this program explored topics from our open textbook, Economic Principles in Cell Biology, which we are developing as a community learning and teaching resource.

The univie: summer school Economic Principles in Cell Biology 2025 was open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral researchers with a background in the natural sciences (including chemistry, biological sciences, physics, engineering, or mathematics). The course focused on mathematical modeling of cellular systems and demonstrated how mathematical models and "resource allocation thinking" can enhance our understanding of cells. During the course, we collected feedback from participants to improve our textbook.
